Acupuncture in MetroWest Orlando for chronic pain, migraines, sciatica, nerve pain, fibromyalgia, gut health, anxiety, insomnia, and other complex concerns. Spectrum WellCare provides West Orlando acupuncture on South Hiawassee Road with Dr. Ajay Purohit, DTCM.
Acupuncture is a system of medicine with a long clinical history. Treatment uses very fine needles at selected points, with the plan personalized according to the patient's symptoms, health history, goals, and clinical evaluation.
At Spectrum WellCare, Dr. Purohit uses both classical acupuncture theory and contemporary clinical protocols — individualized to your specific pattern of imbalance. This is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Every session is designed specifically for you based on your pulse, tongue, symptoms, and health history.
Research on acupuncture varies by condition. Dr. Purohit explains the proposed treatment approach, realistic expectations, and how acupuncture can complement appropriate medical care.
Your first appointment at Spectrum WellCare is 60–90 minutes. Dr. Purohit conducts a thorough intake — reviewing your full health history, performing pulse and tongue diagnosis, and beginning to identify your underlying pattern. Treatment often begins in the same visit. Most patients feel deeply relaxed during and after treatment.

Call 407-347-5038Every treatment at Spectrum WellCare begins with an individualized evaluation that considers the patient's symptoms, health history, goals, and Chinese medicine pattern rather than relying on one standard protocol.
Before any needle is placed, Dr. Purohit performs pulse and tongue diagnosis to identify your unique pattern of imbalance. TCM has 6 primary patterns — Blood Stasis, Damp, Heat, Excess, Deficiency, and Meridian Disharmony. Your treatment targets the specific pattern driving your condition.
When appropriate, Dr. Purohit may combine acupuncture with a personalized Chinese herbal formula. The Harmonize System provides a structured way to select and adjust formulas according to the patient's history, symptoms, and response.
Not comfortable with needles? Microcurrent Point Stimulation uses gentle electrical stimulation at selected points without acupuncture needles. Dr. Purohit determines whether MPS is appropriate as a standalone service or as part of a broader plan.
Eligible veterans may receive acupuncture through VA Community Care after an approved referral and authorization. Dr. Purohit is an authorized provider, and the clinic assists with its portion of the authorization process.
Acupuncture benefits vary by insurance plan. Verify coverage, referrals, deductibles, copays, and visit limits before treatment through the insurance verification option or by requesting a callback.
Located at 2295 S. Hiawassee Rd, Suite 207 in MetroWest Orlando — easily accessible from Dr. Phillips, Windermere, Ocoee, Winter Garden, and throughout Central Florida. Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Saturday 8am–1pm.
Acupuncture needles are very fine, and many patients report little or no discomfort. A brief pinch, tingling, heaviness, warmth, or dull sensation can occur. Dr. Purohit adjusts placement and technique based on the patient's comfort and response.
The number of visits depends on the condition, how long it has been present, overall health, treatment goals, and response to care. After the initial evaluation, Dr. Purohit recommends a personalized plan and reassesses progress rather than promising a fixed number of sessions.
Some insurance plans include acupuncture benefits, but coverage, referrals, deductibles, copays, and visit limits vary. Spectrum WellCare can help verify benefits before treatment. VA Community Care requires an approved referral and authorization.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be rolled above the knees and elbows when needed. Avoid arriving immediately after a large meal, but do not come on an empty stomach. Arrive a few minutes early for your first visit to complete any remaining intake paperwork.
The first visit includes a review of health history, symptoms, goals, medications, and relevant Chinese medicine findings. Dr. Purohit explains the proposed approach, answers questions, and determines whether treatment is appropriate.
