Traditional Chinese Medicine
in Orlando, FL

I use traditional Chinese medicine to look at how your symptoms, health history, sleep, stress, digestion and pain patterns may relate. Your care may include acupuncture, personalized Chinese herbal medicine, or another appropriate option after an individual evaluation.

A whole-person clinical framework

What Traditional Chinese Medicine Means at Spectrum WellCare

When patients ask me about traditional Chinese medicine in Orlando, I explain that it is not one treatment. It is a clinical framework used to organize symptoms and select care for the individual patient.

I begin by listening to what is bothering you, how long it has been happening, what makes it better or worse, which treatments you have already tried, and what medications or supplements you currently use. I may also consider pulse, tongue and other findings used within Chinese medicine.

This evaluation does not replace a medical diagnosis. It helps me decide whether acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, another service, or a referral for additional medical care is appropriate.

Why two people may receive different care

Two patients can arrive with the same conventional diagnosis and describe very different symptoms. One may have pain with poor sleep. Another may have pain with digestive changes or tension that worsens during stressful periods. The treatment plan should reflect the complete presentation rather than the diagnosis alone.

Care may include

Acupuncture
Very fine needles are placed at selected points based on the evaluation, treatment goals and patient comfort.

Personalized Chinese herbal medicine
When appropriate, an individualized formula may be considered after reviewing symptoms, medications, supplements and possible interactions.

MPS therapy
A needle-free microcurrent option may be considered for some patients after evaluation.

Your first visit is where I learn how the concern affects your daily life and whether the services offered at Spectrum WellCare fit your needs.

Your primary concern

We discuss the location, timing, severity and pattern of your symptoms, along with previous diagnoses and treatment.

Your full health history

I review relevant medical history, medications, supplements, allergies and care you receive from other providers.

Related patterns

Sleep, stress, digestion, energy, headaches, pain and other symptoms may provide context for the treatment plan.

Your goals

We discuss what you want help with and how progress could be tracked without promising a specific result or timeline.

Safety and fit

I determine whether care is appropriate and whether you should speak with another medical provider before treatment.

Your starting plan

If treatment is appropriate, I explain the recommended approach, possible risks, alternatives and when we will reassess.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine

How the Two Approaches Differ

Acupuncture in Orlando uses selected points and very fine needles. A session plan depends on your symptoms, examination findings, goals, comfort and response.

Chinese herbal medicine in Orlando uses an individualized formula when appropriate. Herbal products can interact with medications and may not be right for every patient, so I review your complete medication and supplement list first.

Some patients may be offered one approach. Others may be offered both. Neither approach should replace necessary medical testing, prescribed medication or care from your physician.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Questions

What is traditional Chinese medicine? +

Traditional Chinese medicine is a clinical framework that may include acupuncture, herbal medicine and other approaches. At Spectrum WellCare, recommendations follow an individual evaluation and do not replace necessary conventional medical care.

Are acupuncture and Chinese medicine the same thing? +

Acupuncture is one part of traditional Chinese medicine. Chinese herbal medicine is another option that may be considered separately or alongside acupuncture when appropriate.

Can I take Chinese herbs with prescription medication? +

Do not add an herbal product without a medication and supplement review. Herbs can interact with prescriptions, affect certain medical conditions or be unsuitable during pregnancy and other situations.

How many visits will I need? +

There is no standard number. The starting plan depends on your concern, health history, goals, other care and response. Dr. Purohit reassesses the plan rather than promising a fixed timeline.

Does insurance cover traditional Chinese medicine in Orlando? +

Some plans include acupuncture benefits, but herbal products are often handled differently. Coverage, eligible conditions, referrals, deductibles, copays and visit limits vary. Spectrum WellCare can help you check available benefits.
